Shin Shin Group has announced a ground-breaking collaboration with Danish cleantech company TEGnology ApS to deploy a cutting-edge thermal energy harvesting pilot project in its production plants.
This collaboration aims to harness surplus heat generated during industrial processes, an often-overlooked energy source, and convert it into electricity. The initiative is a significant step towards enhancing sustainability and environmental responsibility in the country’s garment sector. Additionally, it seeks to improve worker safety by integrating an emergency power backup system powered by the harvested thermal energy.
The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in a ceremony attended by key representatives from both organisations, along with officials from the Royal Danish Embassy in Dhaka.
This initiative reflects Shin Shin Group’s commitment to a just and green transition within Bangladesh’s apparel industry, emphasising innovative resource management and worker safety. By leveraging waste heat, the pilot project aims to set a new standard for sustainability and safety, potentially serving as a model for other industry players to follow.
