In addition to establishing the SHEIN Foundation, the international online fashion and lifestyle retailer SHEIN has committed €5 million (US$5.30 million) to the Africa Collect Textiles (ACT) Foundation, the charity arm of Africa Collect Textiles (ACT), a social enterprise that has created a pilot program for the collection and recycling of used textiles in Kenya.
As the philanthropic arm of the SHEIN Group, the SHEIN Foundation is a non-profit organisation that seeks to promote more sustainable and inclusive communities in the areas where SHEIN operates. When it is appropriate and in line with the foundation’s mission, SHEIN will attempt to consolidate its prior philanthropic efforts under the SHEIN Foundation.
“By creating the SHEIN Foundation and bringing our charitable endeavours under a formal philanthropic framework, we are able to increase the accountability and transparency of our donations,” stated Donald Tang, Executive Chairman of SHEIN. “Additionally, this makes it easier for us to allocate our philanthropic contributions in a way that will have a greater lasting impact and better support causes and organisations who share our values.”
