Crafted from recycled oyster shells, Shapellx with its new womenswear collection OceanHug™, capitalised on the ocean resources and made a strong move in the sustainability sector. With the incorporation of 33 recycled oyster shells in its wide range of products including intimate, shapewear, casual, and outwear, the brand subsequently addressed the issue of millions of oyster shells ending up in landfills while reducing dependence on virgin materials.
Speaking about this eco-friendly collection, Shane Shi, Vice President of Shapellx, stressed on the significance of coming up with more sustainable alternatives and also expressed enthusiasm on embracing oyster protein coming from oyster shells, which apart from being eco-friendly also has performance-driven aspects.
With a commitment to come up with more innovative materials, Shi talked more about the lightweight and breathable OceanHug™ yarn that encapsulates peptides and amino acids, which not only feels silky and cool on the skin but also nourishes it. Further, Shi also revealed how this anti-bacterial fabric that reduces harmful bacteria growth by 2.56 per cent, is processed to eliminate harmful chemicals, thereby making it an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin.
This eco-friendly collection will come in pastel tones such as baby blue, oyster white, and lavender pink, and it not only marks advancement in the circular fashion by giving a second-life to shells but also aligns with the brand’s motto of delivering products while minimising environmental impact.
