Renewcell is launching the Circulose Supplier Network (CSN) – a group of 47 yarn and textile producers. By constantly supplying Circulose fibre to the market, the CSN will assist in advancing the circular economy.
In November 2022, Renewcell inaugurated the first-ever industrial-scale chemical textile-to-textile recycling factory in Sundsvall, Sweden. In December of the previous year, the company sent out the first consignment of Circulose dissolving pulp made at Renewcell 1.
Since Renewcell 1 recently attained RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) certification, approved Circulose pulp is being manufactured on a wider scale. Renewcell 1 will be built up to create 120,000 metric tonnes of pulp per year, or the equivalent of 600 million T-shirts, from an initial yearly capacity of 60,000 metric tonnes.
Circulose is created by recovering the cellulose found in old clothing and turning it into a dissolving pulp that is composed entirely of recycled fabrics. Different forms of regenerated fibres, such as viscose, lyocell, modal, acetate, and other synthetic cellulosic fibres, are built on the pulp. Circulose-based viscose is now offered by providers including Tangshan Sanyou and Yibin Grace through business partner Ekman.
Early adopters who are the first to obtain product volumes make up the Circulose Supplier Network. Members of the network pledge to the ongoing development of circular solutions and will play a key role in the creation of sustainable textiles and finished goods under the brand name.
“The implementation of the Circulose Supplier Network is integral to continue scaling the product,” said Renewcell CEO Patrik Lundström.
Arvind, Trident Group and Pallavaa Group are the Indian companies named in the Circulose Supplier Network.
