An export-oriented washing facility for denim and non-denim apparel items, Mayble & Frank Ltd has opened an eco-friendly Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh.
The ETP it opened in Bhaluka is based on Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) gel, which will create bacteria to reduce water waste during waste treatment. According to what the company owners said, the procedure is environment-friendly and cost effective.
Jacqui Gray, Head of Sourcing for Cool Cat Asia ltd, a company that sources products from Mayble & Frank’s parent company, said: “The green initiative of the company will be a very attractive proposition to the buyers.”
Operating in Bangladesh since 1998 as a cloth-maker, Arrival Fashion, the mother company of Mayble & Frank, weighed in about US $ 25 million from exports to the Europe, Australia and Russia last year.
“We expect to earn US $ 3 million in exports this year from Mayble & Frank and the new company will see a healthy growth in the coming years,” said Shafiqul Islam, Managing Director of Arrival Fashion.
He said the PVA gel-based ETP is more environment-friendly as it consumes less chemicals. “Once the gel is created from beads, it lasts for 20 years. Initially it needs some investment, but in the long run it is cost-effective,” he added.
Arrival Fashion Chairman Babul Khan and directors Bimal Chandra Shil and Arafat Ahmed were also present at the launching.
