France-based technology services provider- Lectra, l’École supérieure des technologies industrielles avancées (ESTIA), Today Tomorrow Textiles Foundation and JPS Conseil have formed a ‘Biarritz Active Lifestyle Integral Chair’, dedicated to the development of innovative sustainable materials for the textile industry. The new ‘Chair’ has been formed to help the textile value chain, from design to sales; by improving its entire ecosystem in the following three years.
Commenting on the importance of setting up the Chair, Daniel Harari – CEO, Lectra elaborated “The Chair’s philosophy is founded on industrial partnerships across diverse sectors, notably in luxury and lifestyle, as well as partnerships with international academia. The best way to move forward is to always work together.”
The newly formed body will also set up a technical training facility where the member companies would develop advanced technologies for the industry. These technologies will be further used to develop sustainable materials to create new opportunities for textile companies, claims JPS Conseil.
The ‘Chair‘ will explore users’ buying preferences; materials and components required in producing textiles for future; manufacturing technologies and services; process digitalization; and products distribution; right from clothes to accessories. “This Chair will help us better understand the changes that are necessary for the sector, to anticipate innovations and to circulate knowledge worldwide,” explained Patxi Elissalde, Director, ESTIA. This approach will foster the ‘circular economy’ by exploiting research advancements via disruptive innovations.
