At the recently held IDTechEx Wearable USA 2015, Jabil Circuit, an electronic product solutions company, along with its newly acquired company Clothing+ introduced a smart garment solution called ‘Peak+’. The Peak+ technology integrates heart rate monitoring solution with textile, and has been developed in partnership with Suunto, a manufacturer of heart rate monitors, and Firstbeat, a provider of physiological analytics for sports, fitness and wellbeing.
The Clothing+ textile-integrated electronics included in the Peak+ solution disappear into fabrics for optimum comfort, durability and convenience. And, the Suunto wireless transmitter helps in transferring accurate measurement data collected from garment sensors to a smartphone app, providing easy access to tracked HRM data.
“With Peak+, we’re offering customers in the fitness, fashion and healthcare markets a strong competitive advantage with a unique, custom solution that gives them easy entry into the high-growth wearables market,” said John Dargan, Jabil senior Vice President and CEO of Clothing+. To deliver actionable feedback into stress, recovery, and effects of physical training, the solution uses patented analytics of HRM data by Firstbeat.

To ensure accurate measurement collection, regular testing takes place throughout each step of the highly customizable design and development process. Finland based Clothing+ has previously collaborated with major brands like Adidas, Garmin, Salomon, and Philips to create highly differentiated, first-of-its-kind smart textile products.
Post its acquisition of Clothing+, Jabil has increased its staff and facilities worldwide, and a new research and development lab near Jabil’s Florida headquarters will enable Clothing+ researchers to build on their pioneering E-Textile work. In order to meet increased customer demand, Jabil has also expanded Clothing+’s engineering, business development, and manufacturing capabilities.
