Greenpeace’s East Asian subsidiary has launched an online platform – Detox Catwalk – to asses how effectively major fashion brands are working towards curtailing water pollution and removal of toxic chemicals from their supply chains. While brands like Inditex, Puma and Valentino have joined 13 Detox leaders, the organization has labeled Nike and Lining “Greenwashers” for their failure to execute Detox’s suggestions. “The fashion companies committed to Detox over the past four years represent 10 per cent of the global apparel and footwear market. We believe this momentum is sparking a transparency revolution and proving that zero discharge of hazardous chemicals is within our reach by 2020,” said Detox campaigner at Greenpeace East Asia, Yixiu Wu.
