Global Fashion Agenda, a non-profit organisation focused on promoting sustainability in the fashion industry, has announced the launch of a new platform called the Global Textiles Policy Forum (GTPF). The platform aims to facilitate collaboration between textile industry players and governments in order to establish ambitious sustainability goals for the industry and develop global policy frameworks to support these goals.
One of the primary objectives of GTPF is to provide a space for governments and textile industry associations from around the world to come together and coordinate efforts toward sustainable practices. By addressing the need for global policy coordination, the platform seeks to align the industry on a pathway that promotes sustainability and circularity in the textile value chain.
In addition to fostering collaboration, GTPF aims to amplify the voices of supply chain stakeholders and enhance capacity-building initiatives. By gathering insights and experiences from different actors within the industry, the platform aims to spread the knowledge and potential impact of the European Union’s Textiles Strategy beyond the borders of the EU.
The launch of GTPF took place at The Global Fashion Summit, held in Copenhagen from June 27-28. Alongside the platform, the Global Fashion Agenda also introduced a new policy matrix that provides a summary of key legislations worldwide affecting the textile industry.
With the launch of this platform, Global Fashion Agenda aims to strengthen the industry’s commitment to sustainability and accelerate progress towards a more sustainable and responsible fashion sector. By fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, GTPF strives to drive positive change in the global textile industry.
