Through the establishment of an offtake deal with Ambercycle, a circular textile developer based in Los Angeles, Danish womenswear company Ganni A/S has further solidified its sustainability aims. Under the arrangement, Ganni will employ Ambercycle’s regenerated polyester—made from used textiles—to replace 20 per cent of its virgin and recycled bottle-based polyester. Since 2021, the two businesses have collaborated, and last autumn, Ganni debuted three products created from Ambercycle’s circular fibre, cycora®.
Ganni’s plan to cut its carbon footprint by 50 per cent by 2027 includes this agreement as a key component. By 2025, the company also wants to get 10 per cent of the materials used in its collections from “Fabrics of the Future.” The agreement is a significant acknowledgement of Ambercycle’s circular technologies’ potential in the fashion sector.
Both businesses stress the value of cooperation for a future in which fashion has a less harmful impact on the environment in Ambercycle’s news release. According to Nicolaj Reffstrup, founder of Ganni, this partnership is crucial to expanding circular materials and lessening the fashion industry’s environmental effect. According to Ambercycle CEO and co-founder Shay Sethi, cooperation is essential to creating a circular future.
