Mexico-based slow-fashion platform, Fundamentally recently teamed up with sustainability intelligence company, Green Story to announce the launch of Fundamentally Green Metrics – LATAM. With this launch, the two companies aim at powering sustainability practices within Latin America’s small and medium-sized fashion industry.
Engineered to provide tools and metrics, the LATAM program will give selected brands an access to improve upon their traceability and keep up with increasing global sustainability framework and regulations, given the growing relevance of impact measurement. In addition, this AI-enabled pilot-program will also address the issue that the local Latin America fashion producers face in navigating the sustainability tools, by offering economical access to sophisticated sustainability metrics together with expert advice, as per the region.
Speaking on the same, Akhil Sivanandan, CEO of Green Story expressed his enthusiasm in coming up with the LATAM program with Fundamentally. Sivanandan shared that this platform offers important access to Green Story’s sustainability tools at affordable prices and thanked Fundamentally for managing regional subsidies.
As such, the selected participants in the LATAM’s pilot program will be able to avail some benefits provided by Green Story such as a year-long access to the sustainability intelligence platform, optional carbon offsetting available through verified projects assessed by Green Story, and the opportunity to leverage Green Story data in Higg Index submissions (provided it meets additional qualification).
The other services that the LATAM will work at providing includes training resources, promotional visibility through LATAM campaigns, unlimited DPPs (Digital Product Passports), and API connectivity to embed impact metrics into e-commerce platforms. Apart from the in-built services, LATAM will also seek to enhance the alignment with the EU (European Union) standards and improve visibility among the responsible buyers. It will also prepare the local brands to enter the high-end export markets and give them an opportunity to build consumer trust by sharing verified environmental impact.
However, this pilot initiative will include only 30 Latin American fashion brands, which will be selected by both Fundamentally and Green Story on the basis of their level of commitment towards improving upon their sustainability traceability and practices and further on their readiness to compete globally.
This pilot will involve a 3-month implementation period for selected brands but based on the results, this initiative will be opened up to many more brands and manufacturers, who aim at promoting circular goals.
