Freudenberg has launched first 100 per cent Recycled Thermoplastic Elastomers (rTPE) Base Content Interlinings. Building on the principles of Freudenberg Apparel’s House of Sustainability, these new products speak about Freudenberg’s ongoing dedication to high-quality, responsible products in every season.
Since its establishment, Freudenberg Group has been dedicated to sustainability and Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel (Freudenberg) continues to lead in the development of new products that are better for the environment, such as those that require fewer virgin resources and solutions that consider the full garment lifecycle.
It is pertinent to mention here that apparel that moves with the body and offers exceptional recovery and comfort is now the norm, not only in athletic apparel, but across the casual, athleisure and fashion segments. This trend has bolstered the use of elastics throughout the industry, leading elastic interlinings to become a favoured garment component.
Further, with growing calls for meaningful improvements in the sustainability of the apparel industry, consumers, companies and countries the world over are looking for more responsibly-made and environment-friendly products.
The use of rTPE in interlinings reduces the need for virgin materials in apparel while also reducing the demand for the extractive practices necessary to produce such materials. Besides the use of recycled components reduces materials in landfills and oceans, in consideration of full-garment lifecycle management. Together, these actions enable cleaner and healthier oceans and support a thriving marine ecosystem.
With the newly launched, 100 per cent rTPE base content interlinings and super elastic interlinings from the XB and UE Series, Freudenberg now offers a complete range of super elastic interlinings in the Indian market – from 40 g/m2 to 220 g/m2 weights, including new sustainable options.
The new, 100 per cent rTPE base content interlinings are offered in 40-90 g/m2 weights, with wide applicability – from lightweight knit fabrics with applications in leggings and sports bras to elastic woven fabrics that require medium-to-heavy weights, such as denim, maternity clothes or casual wear. Sustainable without compromising on quality, the new interlinings offer exceptional elasticity and retain excellent recovery capabilities.
In addition, Freudenberg also offers interlinings from the XB and UE Series. The XB Series are nonwoven interlinings, available in 40-72 g/m2 weights, offering a soft-hand feel and light-to-medium weight options with high-wash durability. These interlinings are applicable across sportswear and fashion brands in areas such as cuffs and the waistbands of leggings.
The UE Series is available in 153-220 g/m2 weights, offering high elasticity, good recovery and strong support. Furthermore, the mesh structure ensures excellent breathability with application to garments like sports bras.
From the soft-to-the-touch, light-to-medium weight and durable XB Series and the exceptional elasticity and recovery of the 100 per cent rTPE base content additions, to the mesh structure of the UE Series that offers both strong support and breathability, Freudenberg is delivering greater possibilities in active and casual styling.
Freudenberg Apparel’s House of Sustainability is a major initiative designed to assist customers in enhancing the sustainability of their garment products and building towards a more sustainable future.
Adding to Freudenberg’s more than 500 sustainable solutions, these new products are certified by meaningful GRS standards and are made from 100 per cent rTPE base content, expanding on the core elements of sustainable operations such as technological advancement, improved materials and definitive standards.
Offering the latest innovations and solutions from its House of Sustainability that combine functional and environmental benefits, Freudenberg supports sustainable garments for people and the planet through all manufacturing seasons. For example, in the spring manufacturing season, Freudenberg highlighted its biodegradable fusible cotton shirt interlinings which maintain garments’ optimal shape and protect pollinator integrity. In the winter manufacturing season, Freudenberg supported habitats by keeping wearers warm while protecting polar regions with recycled PET interlinings, linings and thermal insulations with lower carbon emissions and fewer extractive practices.
Through ongoing technological and operational development, Freudenberg will continue to generate new solutions that are better for customers and the environment.
