Frasers, a UK-based multi-brand retailer owning House of Fraser, Flannels, Sports Direct, Jack Wills and Missguided, has confirmed banning Angora fur and its sale in the recent annual meeting after its declaration of a no fur policy last year.
PETA US, one of the shareholders of the company, received a confirmation regarding the extension of the no-fur policy announced by Frasers last year with almost 17,000 PETA supporters contacting the company to call for a ban on angora.
PETA Vice President of Corporate Projects Yvonne Taylor stated, “Every Angora garment represents the pain and fear of gentle rabbits who were plucked alive while fully conscious, PETA is calling on other retailers to follow Frasers Group’s compassionate lead and ban angora now.”
Frasers Group joins the group of over 425 designers and retailers who have banned Angora from their collections and platforms including Calvin Klein, HUGO BOSS, Valentino, Stella McCartney, Selfridges, and FARFETCH.
