In Noida, a textile printing factory in Sector 10 caught on fire, though there were no casualties, it was a narrow escape for around 10 workers as they were sleeping inside the building when the fire erupted.
As per media reports, the reason for the fire is being given as a short circuit.
Media reports quoted Pradeep Chaubey, the chief fire officer (CFO) of Gautam Budh Nagar, “The fire broke out on the top floor of the three-story building, where the workers slept. Thick smoke engulfed the entire building within minutes and due to poor visibility, the rescue operation became difficult.”
It has been told that 2 factory workers had inhaled a lot of smoke and were given first aid. It has been found that the fire broke out due to a short circuit. No heavy electrical equipment was being used at that time and the workers were sleeping.
At the onset of summer, fire incidents are likely to rise due to increased electricity load and short circuits so it has been suggested to avoid overloading switch points and connections.
Noida is one of the leading apparel manufacturing hubs and last year the city has seen overall 1,514 fire-related cases.
