French affordable luxury label Claudie Pierlot, owned by the SMCP group alongside Maje, Sandro and Fursac, has entered the circular fashion market by launching a ready-to-wear resale service.
Claudie Pierlot has debuted a circular fashion brand with a selection of used clothing called Claudie Seconde Main. The label has followed in the footsteps of sister brand Sandro, just over a year after another SMCP label, Maje, entered the second-hand fashion market in winter 2022.
About 300 pieces from the range, which debuted on 12th February on the label’s online store, are already available. Acknowledging that the fashion industry plays a significant role in contributing to global pollution, Claudie Pierlot aims to prolong the life cycle of its stylish womenswear wardrobe in an eco-friendly manner.
Customers of the label can purchase long patterned dresses, buttoned mauve cardigans, matching pants, aqua green jackets, and handbags and tiny leather products, among other accessories, from the Claudie Seconde Main collection.
Customers have the option to resell things from past collections by shipping them back to the label at no cost. In return, they will receive exchange coupons that are good for both new and used products on the Claudie Pierlot e-shop. Before being listed on the used website, the clothing and accessories that are supplied to Claudie Pierlot—in conditions ranging from “good” to “very good” to “new with sales label”—go through a “rigorous, reliable reconditioning process.”
“They say that love reinvents itself each day. Our way of consuming must also be reinvented,” said Claudie Pierlot in a press release announcing the launch.
