Bangladesh has become the country with the most volume of apparel manufacturing certified by LEED. Presently, 215 LEED green factories exist in the nation; of these, 81 are platinum-rated, 120 are gold, 10 are silver, and four are simply green-certified.
Recently, the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) certified another Bangladeshi garment factory, Fashion Makers Ltd factory as LEED-certified.
Located at Gargharia Masterbari at Sreepur, Fashion Makers received the green LEED certification in the platinum category. Sixteen other countries together have 45 top green garment factories, according to data from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
With 55 of the world’s top 100 green garment factories situated there, Bangladesh is the green garment category champion worldwide.
The countries with the second and third highest numbers of LEED-certified green garment factories are Pakistan (nine) and India (eight).
