Garment Labour Union (GLU) has claimed that a baby was found dead in a dustbin inside the toilet of Shahi Exports (Unit 28), Bengaluru. The incident happened around 10 am on Saturday (28 November).
In a series of tweets, Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA) has raised the issue and said that while the management has reported the incident to the police and the police are investigating the case, a major question remains as to how the baby was brought inside the factory without anyone’s knowledge, especially when the crèche facility in the factory has been closed for months.
AFWA is a global coalition of trade unions, workers and human rights organisations bargaining for living wage for garment workers in Asia.
“We stand with GLU as they demand a proper investigation into this incident,” AFWA said further.
