Colour and speciality chemicals company Archroma has officially announced to have become a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, the largest global corporate social responsibility initiative. The initiative hosts more than 9,500 companies as participants from across 160 countries.
Archroma formally pledges to support and promote the UN Global Compact’s 10 principles, spanning from the protection of human rights and labour to the development of eco-friendly technologies, in view of its stated commitment towards making a more sustainable industry. This fully aligns with the chemical manufacturing company’s Sustainability Policy and Code of Conduct.
Alexander Wessels, Archroma’s CEO said that the fibre to finish company shares the UN Global Compact goal of contributing to an inclusive global market and helping to build prosperous, thriving societies. Being associated with the UN Global Compact will help the company walk further down this path while convincing those along their influence to join along, he added.
The Switzerland-based company, having been in the industry for around five years now, introduced several innovations directed towards making textile or paper manufacturing more sustainable. It uses Advanced Denim Technology that focuses on an eco-friendly generation of concentrated sulphur dyes instead of indigo.
Archroma is committed to challenging the status quo in the deep belief that it can make its industry sustainable; an approach reflected in its innovations, world-class quality standards, high service levels and cost-efficiency.
The company has implemented advanced and resource-saving manufacturing processes at several of its production facilities like the zero discharge facility in Jamshoro, Pakistan. It was recently recognised for its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and was awarded for excellence it achieved in all corporate area management, as well, by Employers Federation of Pakistan (EFP).
