Workers at Arvind mills resume work unconditionally

The workers at Santej manufacturing unit of Arvind Ltd., who went on strike on October 22, 2015 demanding higher wages and bonus called off the strike on October 25, 2015 unconditionally. The plant which manufactures mainly woven fabrics (132 million meters), knits fabrics (10,000 tons), and denim (20 million meters capacity) started operating normally from Sunday morning. The wages were settled in 2012 by all the textile mills based in Ahmedabad with representative trade unions, and the next round of negotiations are due in 2018. There was no reason or scope for any kind of agitation or strike and hence the strike was declared illegal by the trade union.
