Tukatech, the leading technology provider of fashion technology solutions recently opened three computer design labs for digital pattern, textile and apparel design at Pakistan’s National Textile University (NTU). The labs were inaugurated by Ram Sareen, Tukatech’s founder and NTU’s Director Dr Tanveer Hussain.
The design labs have over 50 TUKAcad stations for digital pattern making and several TUKA3D stations for virtual sample-making process.
NTU being one of the oldest and most prestigious universities, earlier focused on spinning, weaving and processing of textiles. In 2002 it was upgraded to a technical and managerial university and the programmes expanded to equip students with knowledge of fashion design, apparel merchandising and garment manufacturing. The main purpose of this shift towards the ‘outcome-based’ teaching and skill enhancement has been done to provide the garment industry with students having hands-on experience to add value to their employers from day one.
Tanveer Hussain, Director, NTU said, “We had been using CAD systems in our garment manufacturing programmes, but we learned that about 70 per cent of the progressive garment industry had switched to Tukatech systems for product development. We were amazed with the capabilities of TUKAcad and TUKA3D, and we knew our students would be in a better position to serve the garment industry with the knowledge and skill of the Tukatech systems.”
Tukatech, established in 1995, simplifies design and development processes and creates fashion technology that companies of every size can use it so as to bring the right product to the consumers at the right time. Tukatech believes in empowering professionals and students with powerful tools to face the challenges of the fashion industry with confidence, free from technical challenges and restrictions.
