Some of the small, but growing, buying agents/buying houses in Tirupur are moving aggressively in their business. Recently, Apparel Online met three such companies and observed that despite their limited resources, they are geared up to grab their share of business in the Tirupur region which is dominated by bigger exporters as well as offices of various overseas brands/buyers. One of them, Miami Exports also has its own small manufacturing unit of 65 machines in the name of Miami Fashion. As a buying agent, it is currently working with 4 buyers, one each from Canada, Dubai, Tanzania and Netherlands, and is further exploring options in new markets. Ram ji of the company informed, “We are in the process of adding US market to our profile and also few new buyers from Canada. We are expecting orders of at least Rs. 2 crore from these new buyers.” Currently, the company is doing a turnover of Rs. 6 crore per year.

Rajan of UKS Enterprises, Tirupur, who was earlier working with Reserve Bank of India, has recently completed five years of sourcing operations and is associated with 15 vendors. “Now we are enhancing our interest in this industry and soon we will have own manufacturing too. As we are now financially strong, building our own unit is possible for us. Capacity and infrastructure can’t be disclosed as of now,” he says. The company is working with clients of Gulf countries.
After working with many companies, V. Subramanian recently started his own buying and consulting organization Fashion Tech Sourcing, which is majorly associated at present with domestic markets, but has export market on its radar. As of now working from Chennai, Subramanian shares, “I want to materialize my experience of 23 years which covers the whole gamut of the textile chain from spinning to garment outsourcing. So I chose to work in both segments. My domestic business seems to be smooth and continuous, and as soon as I feel that I can shift my concentration, export will be my focus. For that Tirupur is best option for me as I have good network here.”
