Global leader in fashion trade shows, Première Vision Group commits to its aim of supporting the emerging textile designers through an agreement with TexSelect to further hold talent search programme’s legacy with an international standpoint from 2020.
As TexSelect voluntarily winds up by the end of September, Première Vision Group endeavours to carry further the initiative of promotion of graduate talent, fulfilling the common objective of boosting innovation and creativity in textile design.
“Both Première Vision and TexSelect view knit, print, weave and mixed media innovators as being a vital, creative force in the advancement of textile and apparel design,” remarked Gilles Lasbordes, Managing Director, Première Vision Group.
He further added, “Première Vision is committed to giving new designers space and support between university and the launch of their professional practice.”
TexSelect has played an eminent role in offering a guided pathway to the exceptional talent from UK universities into the professional arena under expert guidance throughout its history.
The annual TexSelect programme will be put to action in September with an awards ceremony at PV Designs, the creative textiles and surface design sphere of Première Vision Paris, where each of the 24 new designers get representation under their own name.
Over recent years, we have had a tough time raising the funds required to run the scheme. At the same time, many of our loyal management team are retiring,” explained Barbara Kennington, TexSelect’s Chairman. He further stated, “As a major sponsor, and host of the TexSelect design village, we spoke to our colleagues at Première Vision about our intention to wind up the charity at the end of 2019. We are delighted that our colleagues at Première Vision have been so forthcoming and will create new opportunities for young designers when TexSelect in its current form closes.”
Further detailed announcements about the talent search initiative by Première Vision Group will be made at the press conference at Première Vision Paris on Tuesday, 17 September at 11am.
