Pakistan has registered a growth of 2.9 per cent in its textile exports in Q1 of the current fiscal.
Notably, shipments of readymade apparels as well as knitwear too saw an increase during the first quarter – the figure being in double digits.
However, will the growth be maintained in the subsequent quarters?
The textile industry has been urged to add green products to their portfolio. Actively implementing sustainable practices is key to staying different from competitors in Europe.
The industry has also been asked to comply to sustainability standards and certifications if it has to consistently see an increase in exports every quarter.
There are also efforts to attract more buying houses in Pakistan.
Also, country’s exporters have been getting constant encouragement to create their own brands in addition to catering to specific niche areas in the textile sector like hotel textiles and safety/workwear textiles.
It will be interesting to see the figures of next two quarters.
