
A strong growth in first quarter of the current financial year has brought smiles on faces of Italian textile machinery manufacturers. “Orders for the start of 2017 confirm a positive trend in major foreign markets, and a climate of trust for Italy’s textile industry that is on the upswing,” said Raffaella Carabelli, President, Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT).
According to ACIMIT, the orders index for textile machinery in the period of January – March 2017 surged 24 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year. The index value stood in the first quarter stood at 113.7 points (2010 basis = 100).

The index value increased 26 per cent on exports with an absolute value of 124.1 points. Whereas, in Italy, it recorded a hike of 16 per cent with an absolute value of 71.5 points.
“A renewed climate of enhanced trust is currently perceived in the textile sector triggered by the Government’s commitment to enact a range of significant incentives for the Country’s manufacturing system,” adds Carabelli.
