The recently concluded fourth edition of Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) in Kolkata brought together several prominent industrialists from across India who pledged significant investments in the state of West Bengal.
India’s retail-behemoth Future Group too announced that it will be setting up a garment manufacturing facility besides ramping up their retail store network in West Bengal this year.
“With a major garment manufacturing unit planned in Bengal this year, which will create 10,000 additional jobs, Future Group will continue to invest in the state,” said Future Group Founder & CEO Kishore Biyani at BGBS 2018. He added that the store count will increase by 40 per cent of the present number, there.
Biyani also apprised that his company would open more shop-in-shop (SIS) formats of Biswa Bangla – the flagship handicrafts and apparel store of the State Government. Notably, the first Biswa Bangla outlet was unveiled at the Group’s organised retail format – Central in Kolkata in 2017.
Over the years, Future Group has noted a 75 per cent rise in its revenue from West Bengal. “Coming to Bengal is the rightest decision we have taken,” the company affirmed.
