Alpine Clothing Nikeweratiya (PVT) LTD and the Board of Investment (Sri Lanka’s investment promotion agency) have signed an agreement with a garment manufacturing firm to set up a garment factory with an investment of 1 million US $. The state of the art manufacturing plant is planning to commence its operations by the end of March 2015. First it will create 500 jobs in the Wayamba region and during the first 2 years of production another 1000 jobs will be added. It has planning to manufacture and export ladies wear to European markets.
