Garment industry in Cambodia got a boost recently when China Textile Association in Cambodia, better known as CTAC, was launched.
So, how’s CTAC going to help the garment industry in the country?
In addition to liaising with the Government of Cambodia, CTAC will be offering legal advice to all investors. The focus will be to target Chinese investors.
This was confirmed by public officials at a recently concluded event.
More on this, Cham Prasidh, Minister of Industry and Handicrafts, said that CTAC will be an important partner to Government in promoting country’s garment and textile industry.
While speaking at the launch of CTAC, the minister was optimistic that the association will help bring more investment in the industry.
He urged investors to explore exporting garments to new markets like Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea and Canada.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts, around 800,000 Cambodians work in the industry, of whom 80 per cent are women.
