The Ermenegildo Zegna Group has confirmed a significant leadership reshuffle that will take effect on 1st January 2026, with current Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer Gianluca Tagliabue set to become Group Chief Executive Officer, pending shareholder approval.
Ermenegildo ‘Gildo’ Zegna, who currently serves as Group Chairman and CEO, will transition into the role of Group Executive Chairman. In this position, he will focus on safeguarding the legacy and integrity of the group’s three brands—Zegna, Thom Browne and Tom Ford Fashion—while continuing to steer long-term value creation.
Tagliabue will work closely with Gildo Zegna and take responsibility for defining and implementing the group’s long-term strategy, driving business performance across all brands, and deepening the integration of corporate functions. He will also oversee manufacturing operations, with the CEOs of each brand reporting directly to him.
Gian Franco Santhià, presently Group Control & Chief Accounting Officer, has been named incoming Group CFO and will report to Tagliabue.
In a further generational transition, Edoardo and Angelo Zegna—members of the fourth generation of the Zegna family—will be appointed Co-CEOs of the Zegna brand. They will succeed Gildo Zegna, who has held the brand’s top leadership position for over two decades.
Edoardo Zegna, currently Chief Marketing and Digital Officer of Zegna and Group Chief Sustainability Officer, will take charge of all aspects of brand strategy, from brand image and marketing to design-related matters, working closely with Zegna’s Artistic Director, Alessandro Sartori.
Angelo Zegna, serving as CEO of Zegna’s EMEA region and Global Client Strategy Director, will lead product development, merchandising and commercial strategy, and will be responsible for driving performance across markets and channels.
In a statement, Gildo Zegna said he was “proud and excited” about the leadership transition, noting that one of a leader’s greatest responsibilities is to prepare for the future and empower the next generation. He said the decision reflects longstanding family values centred on continuity and stewardship.
As Executive Chairman, Gildo Zegna said he would continue to work closely with the new leadership team and remain a “curious and passionate custodian” of the group’s vision and values. He will also continue to oversee the group’s textile platform, reflecting its historical roots.
