It’s all about resale especially in these tough times when sales of new apparels have gone for a six.
And Zalando too understands this well! The e-commerce clothing biggie has unveiled a new resale apparel platform that will bring pre-owned apparels to the mainstream shoppers across Europe.
For all those shoppers who are looking for eco-friendly and pocket-friendly benefits of pre-owned apparels, Zalando is now the destination.
This is also seen as an effort on the part of Zalando to strengthen its foothold in the fast-growing world of resale clothing market.
Late last week, Oxfam had teamed up with another digital platform Depop to encourage people to go for secondhand apparels.

More on the resale platform, Torben Hansen, VP of recommerce, Zalando, said that it is for those consumers who have not really engaged with pre-owned fashion but are keen to go for it.
Notably, Zalando will curate, quality check, photograph and sell its complete range of secondhand apparel collections.
Initially, the online retailer will directly collect products from its rich database of customers. Each customer will be able to sell 20 items to Zalando and in return receive charity donation or store credit.
Zalando has been lately vocal about making ‘sustainability’ an essential pre-requisite for all fashion brands selling on its platform. This is yet another initiative on the part of Zalando to enhance customer experience.
