The revolutionary collaboration between Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto and German sportswear label Adidas, Y-3 is making a comeback to Los Angeles for its fourth US-based brick and mortar location with previous stores in New York City and Miami.
Y-3 is a high-end sportswear collection collaboration by Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto that gave rise to an altogether new category in fashion. The label has previously operated retail stores in Los Angeles in the 2000s on Sunset Blvd and later on at Melrose Avenue.
The label’s latest Los Angeles store replaces Unis, the brand which previously occupied the space, and is neighbours with American Rag on the side and Garrett Leight California Optical across the street.
The store space, situated at 138 S. La Brea Ave., spans over an area of 1,500-square-foot and follows a minimalist design concept that is inspired by a Japanese tearoom. The label has replaced its usual glossy black futuristic designs followed by other Y-3 flagships and designed the latest store with inspirations from chashitsu tea houses by implementing simple tones set against wooden designs.
A central structure in the store exhibits the label’s latest merchandise and shelves carrying footwear along the walls.
A complete range of Y-3 men’s, women’s and accessories collections as well as pieces from the label’s Spring 2018 and its exclusive “Uniform of the Streets” styles that launched during the release of the ComplexCon exclusive capsule are available for purchase at the store.
