Walmart taps holiday season by expanding its shipping and return policies

Leveraging the approaching holiday season ahead of its time, Walmart has announced a slew of changes focusing on the shipping and return policies of the mega retailer.

Starting November, Walmart will be expanding its range of products eligible for free two-day shipping without a membership fee, as well as launching the ability to return these items at any of its 4,700 stores.

Via an announcement on their website, the retailer revealed that their holiday shoppers will see ‘millions of additional items with the two-day free shipping label as they work with hundreds of our high-performing marketplace sellers to extend the offer to their eligible items,’ further specifying that the service is available on all orders over USD $35.

In lieu of its new return policy, shoppers are able to print out return labels at home and ship unwanted items back to Walmart.

In-store return policies for items bought online will also be revised and undergo an update for added convenience. Beginning in mid-November, customers will be able to re-package their items and bring them to their nearest Walmart service desk, where the store will take on the responsibility of shipping the product back to the seller.

Both online and in-store returns will be eligible for a refund.

The retailer highlighted the convenience of in-store returns, by pointing out that 90 percent of Americans live within 10 miles of a Walmart location.
