Macy’s, the reputed US fashion retailer, has released a list of stores that its intends to close in 2022.
As per CNBC report, the store closures include six full-line department stores in addition to Bloomingdale’s outlet store in Estero, Florida.
Besides, it includes a Macy’s store as well that was closed last year, but was never announced publicly.
While the six full-line department stores will, reportedly, be closed by the end of first quarter, the Bloomingdale outlet store is expected to be closed by the end of Q4.
Notably, the retailer will be offering the affected workers severance packages or other roles at nearby stores. However, Macy’s didn’t comment on the number of employees working at the locations.
More on the closure, Adrian Mitchell, CFO, Macy’s said “The delayed closure of certain stores allows us to maintain a physical presence in the market, which is critical to our top-line growth.”
Back in November, Macy’s had also hired AlixPartners with an intent to split its e-commerce from its bricks-and-mortar stores.
Macy’s is known for apparels, footwear, fashion accessories and bedding, amongst others, and earned annual revenue of US $ 24.8 billion as of 2017.
