Urban Outfitters, the American lifestyle retail brand, has launched its first-ever standalone denim retail space with a denim swapping facility.
The 275-square-foot store, located at King’s Road in Chelsea features the full BDG Jeans range by Urban Outfitters as a part of their AW ’23 range inspired by the rising trend of high-waist cargo denims.
The store will also have the facility to exchange any pair of old jeans for a new pair of BDG Logan or Jaya for free from 30th September.
The old denims will be either Reused i.e. resold through Urban Renewal,
Reworked i.e. repaired and redesigned for resale or Recycled with a partnership with Upcycle Labs into denim home wear pieces.
According to Malika Zagzoule, Fashion Director at Urban Outfitters, “Denim is coming through as a key item for AW ’23. We saw a rise in desirability through spring-summer with iconic 90s styles and brands worn by Gen Z which has led to being the driving force behind this trend.”
The pop-up is an extension of the brand’s ongoing strategy to expand with three other retails planned to launch in November across Europe.
