In a world where the consumers are more conscious of buying sustainable products, United Colors of Benetton has yet again shown its commitment to sustainability with its new store.
The Italian luxury fashion brand has set a new benchmark for the future of retail with its store concept in Florence, Italy.
Spread over an area of 160 square metres, the store features intensive use of sustainable materials and state-of-the-art energy-saving technologies.
Made extensively with upcycled natural materials, the store’s interiors are already talked about for being made with materials made from textile industry scraps.
What’s more! The perimeter platforms and bases of the display stands are made with a compound that’s created from used buttons (difficult to dispose of) mixed in hydro-resin. Besides, recycled wool is used in the design of the perimeter lining and as decoration for the curtains of the dressing rooms.
Exquisite shelves, eco-friendly mannequins and low environmental impact transparent LED screens on windows are other major attractions of the store.
Notably, the store also uses 20 per cent less energy than a normal store.
The launch of the store is seen as a part of brand’s effort to enhance its environmental and social performance all through the supply chain.
Expressing delight over the new sustainable store concept, Massimo Renon, CEO, Benetton Group, said the concept is unique in the world and was developed to launch a new phase in its firm.
Massimo added “Benetton has always made courageous and cutting-edge choices in terms of social impact. We will continue in this tradition, with ever more determination and conviction.”
Much to the delight of visitors to the store, they have quite a lot to choose from the wide collection of sustainable apparels offered by United Colors of Benetton.
The effort initiated by Benetton is enough to make it a model for sustainable fashion not only in Italy, but across the globe.
