UK retail sales jumped into the high tides of the summer season on account of growing demand for swimwear and beach-appropriate products.
Although the sales saw a decent increase on the occasion of Father’s Day, it however remained a temporary rise.
The total retail sales went up by 4.9 per cent in comparison to the month of June since the rising temperature paved the way for the purchase of swimwear, beach towels, suitable accessories as well as outdoor games, garden furniture and barbecue food.
Helen Dickinson, CEO at the British Retail Consortium, said, “Consumer confidence remains fragile. But, with headline food inflation easing for two months in a row as prices of essentials start to fall thanks to stiff competition and consumers continuing to shift shopping patterns to mitigate as much inflation as they can, confidence could improve.”
