
Online e-commerce platform, TikTok shop, has announced that they will be commencing their services to France, Germany, and Italy next, amid their expansion plans. After a successful spree in the United Kingdom, TikTok Shop eyes growth in the European markets and has onboarded local merchants and other significant brands like Carrefour and AboutYou for the same.
The Europe expansion pans out amid the ongoing regulatory challenges for TikTok in the United States. The TikTok shop has been in operation in the UK from 2021 and tried its entry in the US markets in 2023. However, the expansion in the US markets continues to remain bleak. As for the European market, the platform has joined with brands like Carrefour in France, AboutYou in Germany, and Cosnova cosmetics, to reach the audience and replicate their UK success.
Jan Wilk, Head of Operations, anticipates a faster rollout in France, Germany, and Italy compared to the UK launch, attributing this to the platform’s increased understanding of the market and the model’s growing acceptance.
