Homegrown e-commerce marketplace Snapdeal is looking to strengthen its logistics network in the country by adding 8 new centres across India to its repertoire.
Located in the commercial hubs, the centres will ensure faster delivery to customers this festive season as they will be able to pick up packets from sellers more swiftly.
Snapdeal now operates 23 logistics centres including the new additions located at manufacturing hubs like Rajkot, Mumbai, Agra, Yamuna Nagar, Noida, Bahadurgarh, Bhiwandi and Mathura.
The company expects a spike in order volumes during the Diwali season along with the onboarding of 5,000 more sellers on its platform by the end of 2020.
The new centres have been specifically designed to cater to the growing shipment volumes from manufacturers who are bypassing or supplementing the traditional selling route by opting to sell to customers directly through Snapdeal.
“The new logistics capacity comes as the festive season sale is around the corner when the volume of orders is higher. The new centres make the fulfillment process simpler for the manufacturer-sellers so that they can devote all energies and resources towards production,” said a statement given by a spokesperson for the company.
Currently, Snapdeal boasts of over 5 lakh sellers servicing over 26,000 pincodes all over India, including metropolitans, Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3 & Tier-4 locations.
