Creative director Sarah Burton and the Kering-owned fashion house have announced the end of their collaboration. The upcoming Spring/Summer 2024 show in Paris “will mark the conclusion of a highly successful partnership”, they said in a statement.
The creative director is leaving the British luxury fashion house after a total of 26 years. A “new creative organisation” for the house will be announced in due course.
“We would like to express our deep gratitude to Sarah for writing such an important chapter in the history of the Alexander McQueen House,” said Alexander McQueen CEO Gianfilippo Testa.
Burton has served as the brand’s creative director since Alexander McQueen passed away in 2010; the company that acquired his name-brand in 2001 and is now known as Kering Group. Under Burton, McQueen mellowed a little bit, mostly forsaking the shock factor of the original McQueen brand but carrying on the designer’s tradition of demanding tailoring with eye-catching silhouettes.
“I am so proud of everything I have done and of my incredible team at Alexander McQueen,” said Burton.
