British clothing retailer Bonmarché, which operates more than 300 stores, has reported plunge in its online and stores sales this Holiday Season. Its like-for-like sales dived 2.7 per cent in five weeks to December 26, with online sales declining by 2.4 per cent.
The apparel retailer said its overall sales for the quarter dropped 0.8 per cent, compared to a 5.4 per cent zoom in prior three months.
Beth Butterwick, outgoing Chief Executive of Bonmarché mentioned, “As noted in our announcement on 16 December 2015, trading conditions during November and December were very challenging and as a result, the Board revised its profit expectations for the current financial year,” adding, “In the short period since Christmas, demand has trended towards more normal levels.” The Group is still optimistic about profits, and expects it to fall between £ 10.5 million to £ 12 million.
