Footwear giant Relaxo has hired industry veteran Aakash Koparkar as its new Vice President, marking a major leadership appointment as the company readies itself for faster growth in India’s dynamic footwear market.
At Relaxo, he will be responsible for driving core strategic projects and spearheading the growth of the brand’s presence in the increasingly competitive Indian footwear business.
Koparkar comes with over 17 years of experience in the retail and fashion industries, with profound experience in scaling businesses, driving customer engagement, and increasing profitability for business. His joining is likely to further Relaxo’s strategic plan as it seeks to enhance its market leadership.
He comes to Relaxo after 13 years with the Bata Group, where he served in various leadership positions in India and Southeast Asia. Most recently, he was Business Head for Power concept and Hush Puppies stores at Bata India. He had previously worked at the company as head of retail development, franchise business, and head of retail business in southern India. Globally, he was a part of Bata’s international talent program, working as Retail and Marketing Adviser for Bata Indonesia.
Before joining Bata, Koparkar has worked in leadership roles at Raymond Limited and Arvind Limited, where he has had significant exposure to the apparel and lifestyle categories.
