After terminating its license relationship with Farfetch’s New Guards Group (NGG) earlier this month, Reebok has begun revamping its footwear division. Authentic Brands Group (ABG), the owner of Reebok’s US footwear licensee SPARC Group, informed that the reorganisation has affected certain US-based footwear design and development, merchandising, talent acquisition, and innovation responsibilities.
In an effort to find a new footwear license partner and concentrate on its apparel businesses, ABG terminated its licensing agreement with Farfetch’s New Guards Group (NGG), which ran Reebok’s European retail stores, e-commerce, and wholesale distribution, weeks prior to the layoffs.
A Reebok spokesperson informed that the company has reduced its workforce in the footwear division to streamline operations and eliminate redundant roles. This move is a crucial part of the process as Reebok transitions its license and charts a new direction for its footwear business.
