The unveiling of Reebok’s 2023 Pride collection, Unity by Reebok, coincides with the beginning of Pride Month. Since 2019, Reebok has released a Pride range every June. The range has previously included graphic tees with a pride motif and footwear with colorwaves inspired by the rainbow.
With a line-up of gender-neutral clothing and footwear, the venerable company is moving towards more gender inclusion this year. The Unity by Reebok range was created so that everyone, regardless of their body type, size, or silhouette, may wear the clothes. It was designed by Reebok’s LGBTQ+ employee assistance organisation, Colourful Sole.
Reebok is the first fitness company in the CrossFit apparel market to provide gender-neutral attire.
According to Katelyn Landry, senior product manager at Reebok, “We started fresh, crafting all design elements thinking of how it would work for any anatomy,” rather than making changes to their current offering.
She claims that in order to better understand their particular requirements for a performance product, Reebok’s design team spoke with and conducted interviews with gender-expansive, non-binary, and trans athletes.
Although there is a nice selection of shirts, bottoms and shoes in the present lineup for athletes of all genders, these are only the line’s first products.
Unity by Reebok is the first within a longer-term commitment to create and sell genderless products. Although the line debuted at the beginning of Pride Month, genderless clothing will now be a part of Reebok’s athletic range.
