
German sportswear major Puma has reported that its sales surged 12.8 per cent to US $ 908.7 million in the second quarter of the year. Apparel segment noted the highest growth rate, improving by 19.5 per cent to US $ 328.7 million in the quarter.
In the period under consideration, the EMEA region posted a double-digit growth of 23.5 per cent US $ 353.1 million. In the Americas region, sales soared 5 per cent US $ 346.8 million with particularly good performance in North and Latin America. The Asia/Pacific (APAC) region noted sales increasing by 10.3 per cent to US $ 208.4 million.

While in the first half of the year, sales in the EMEA region zoomed 14 per cent to US $ 742.7 million. In the Americas region, sales surged by 5.2 per cent to US $ 663.5 million. Sales in the Asia/Pacific region were up by 10.8 per cent to US $ 438.6 million. China recorded a double-digit growth rate and Japan also noted performance by the brand.
Apparel sales grew by 13 per cent US $ 647.5 million in the first half of the year. Net earnings amounted to US $ 1.7 million compared to a loss of US $ 3.6 million last year.
