Primark, the Irish retail giant, has opened its 400th store in the beautiful Italian city of Sicily. With this store launch, the fashion retailer has taken its number of stores in the country to 8.
The new store, notably, takes the number of people employed across all its 400 outlets to a whopping 70,000 – yet again opening employment opportunities for many.
The decision to launch the new store comes in the wake of Primark’s recent announcement to plan an investment of €250 million in revamping stores.
If and when the investment plan works out, it will end up generating jobs for around 700 people, in addition to increasing the selling space in Ireland by 20 per cent.

The retailer said that the word ‘Primark’ comes from the Italian word ‘Prima’ (meaning ‘first’) and therefore there couldn’t have been a better tribute to Italians than launching the 400th store in the country.
Primark generated £7.79 billion in 2019, and is known for kidswear, womenswear, menswear, homeware and footwear, amongst others.
