Following an investigation by the French fraud authority (DGCCRF), PrettyLittleThing has been fined US $ 1.53 million for misleading commercial practices. This was announced by the authority on Tuesday.
The Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF)’s investigation revealed consumer deception in terms of “the reality of the discounts they could benefit from” while purchasing items on the website.
Between November 2022 and May 2023, the fraud authority examined ‘hundreds of products’, and 55% of the ads ‘offered no price reduction at all’.
According to the DGCCRF’s news statement, an additional 30% provided “a smaller reduction than advertised.”
The corporation ‘accepted’ US $ 1.53 million fine, the fraud authority added.
