Chavon Webster has been appointed by Converse as its new Vice President of Global Footwear and Design.
Chavon spent nearly eight years at New Balance in roles spanning lifestyle apparel and footwear, including that of Senior Project Manager for cultural moments. Having joined Nike in February 2022 as Director of Kids’ Lifestyle Footwear, Chavon was promoted to the post of Senior Director of Women’s Sports and Training Footwear in December 2023.
Chavon announced on LinkedIn, “Truly overjoyed to join the Converse family as Vice President, Global Footwear and Design. It is an honour to lead this incredible team as we continue to deepen our relationships with consumers, fuel product innovation and accelerate our growth.”
As Nike undergoes restructuring under new CEO Elliot Hill, Chavon will relocate to Boston for her new role. Last month, Nike confirmed its plans to cut less than 1% of its corporate workforce and reorganise teams around sports-obsessed consumer groups such as running, soccer and football as part of its ‘sports-first’ strategy.
To lift the company’s wide portfolio, Elliot is betting on Converse. Aaron Cain, Nike’s Vice President and General Manager of men’s, was promoted as Converse’s new CEO in July.
With revenues going down for eight straight quarters, Converse has been facing ongoing headwinds. The brand contributed less than 4% of Nike’s overall sales in 2024, down from the 5-7% range it consistently represented after Nike began disclosing Converse’s results separately in 2012.
