
Notwithstanding the controversy involving the Bangladesh e-commerce sector, owing to alleged malpractices, online orders are on the rise and this despite the fact that the economy has opened up and bricks-and-mortar stores are operating across the country now.
Media reports maintained this while underlining even if COVID-19 pandemic has eased while many errant e-commerce had to face music on account of alleged malpractices, more sellers from diversified backgrounds are going online, giving a further boost to e-commerce in the country.
Meanwhile, according to the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB), in two years since the pandemic, the e-commerce market has almost doubled thanks to increasing base of online buyers.
It may be mentioned here that the March-May 2020 shutdown during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic sparked online ordering and since then the e-commerce market in Bangladesh has not looked back.
