American sportswear giant NIKE has bagged patent for its athletic denim. The intellectual property wing of the retailer entered this new category. The patent also covers the term “artificially reinforced denim” which refers to a hybrid jeans-jogging pant.
The patent also details a denim fabric that provides “high tenacity” and “moisture management,” in addition to stretch in various proportions. Such denims would note separate but seamless performance zones with the rear, thigh and calf areas apparently having different fabric weaves along with padding for shock absorption.
Like any NIKE product, it seems to be designed for athletes… The product will be useful for extreme athletes, such as BMX riders and skateboarders who “require specialized gear that must be comfortable and protective,” but prefer “clothing and other gear that are fashionable and attractive”.
