New & Lingwood, a renowned British menswear brand, has joined forces with London-based artist and designer Lisa King to celebrate heritage and traditional craftsmanship. Their collaboration brings forth a capsule collection featuring garments crafted from reworked vintage Indonesian textiles. These unique pieces will be on display during London Craft Week (May 13th-19th).
King collaborated with New & Lingwood’s Creative Director, Tom Leeper, to breathe new life into the brand’s signature styles. They incorporated King’s one-of-a-kind collection of Indonesian batik fabrics, meticulously tailored by the Jermyn Street atelier.
Freddie Briance, CEO of New & Lingwood said, “Our RE:NEW concept encourages customers to give clothing and materials a new lease of life rather than throwing them away. This partnership with Lisa King encapsulates the core essence of this initiative and we are delighted to combine our expertise with hers to bring it to life in a way that is so distinctive.”
King added:,“The discovery of my mother’s textile collection, which she gathered over 40 years of living in and traveling around Southeast Asia, has been a deeply personal and creative journey. It includes sarongs worn by grandmother, and patterns hand selected from artisans by my mother. It’s been hidden away for almost a decade, and now I’m eager to bring this incredible art form to the UK.”
