Myntra CEO Amar Nagaram has put in his papers three years after he was elevated to the top post at the country’s largest online fashion retailer. He was on this post for almost three years and will be with the company till December-end for a smooth transition.
As per media reports, his resignation comes days after Flipkart Group transferred Myntra’s business development head R. Ayyappan to handle the business of Cleartrip – an online travel booking platform that Flipkart had acquired in April.
Flipkart has appointed Sharon Pais, head of loyalty and travel at Flipkart, as the new business development head of Myntra replacing Ayyappan.
“Amar Nagaram, CEO of Myntra, has been a strong enabler, under whose leadership the company has delivered highly engaging and personalised fashion experiences for customers. After nearly three years of leading Myntra, Amar has decided to leave the Flipkart Group to pursue his own venture,” Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart Group, which owns Myntra, said in a communication to employees.
“Amar has been an integral part of the Group for close to 10 years and has led various teams at Flipkart prior to his current role and we will miss his presence in the team,” said Krishnamurthy, to whom Nagaram reported directly.
“We will share details of his successor shortly,” Krishnamurthy added.
Nagaram’s departure comes at a time when Reliance Retail-owned Ajio.com is emerging as major competitor.
